Photography has always been my way of making sense of the world around me. I'm endlessly fascinated by people – how they live, the stories they carry, and the fleeting moments that often go unnoticed.

 

Whether I'm photographing an author backstage at a festival, a farmer in the Welsh hills, a family celebrating a wedding, or someone I've met by chance while travelling, I'm looking for the same thing: honesty. The moments between the moments. A glance, a laugh, a quiet pause, or the way someone naturally inhabits a space.

Although my work ranges from commissioned portraits and editorial assignments to long-term personal projects, my approach rarely changes. I don't like over-directing people or creating something that feels artificial. I much prefer to spend time with people, putting them at ease and allowing photographs to emerge naturally. Those are the images that stay with me.

Travel has always been an important part of my work, but I'm equally inspired by the places closest to home. Some of my favourite photographs have been made just a few miles from my front door. I've learned that extraordinary stories can be found anywhere, if you're prepared to slow down and pay attention.

 

Above all, photography has introduced me to remarkable people and taken me to places I could never have imagined. It continues to surprise me, and that's what keeps me picking up my camera.
